چکیده
Abstract We present a comprehensive study of three solar energetic electron events observed in the Earth’s cusp/lobe regions by BeiDa Image Electron Spectrometer (BD-IES) on board BeiDou satellite an inclined (55°) geosynchronous orbit 2015 October, November, and 2016 January, respectively. In all at energies above 50 keV, omnidirectional differential fluxes from BD-IES show strong (∼0.7–0.9) correlation with simultaneous Wind 3DP instrument interplanetary medium, but generally smaller intensity. Compared to spectra flux versus energy, also fit well power-law function, , spectral index appears be mostly than index, for events. These measurements provide first observational evidence that solar/interplanetary electrons can directly continuously enter planet’s get trapped there, probably leading contribution and/or seed particles acceleration planetary magnetosphere.

Solar wind periodicity in energetic electrons at Saturn
[1] Fluxes of energetic electrons (110–365 keV) have been subjected to a long-term Lomb periodogram analysis from the middle of 2004 to the middle of 2009. Fluxes within 20 RS and outside the magnetopause were excluded, so only fluxes within the magnetosphere were included in the analysis. The periodicity ‘‘box’’ was expanded from 5 hours to 50 days. In addition to the familiar rotational perio...
متن کاملAre energetic electrons in the solar wind the source of the outer radiation belt?
Using data from WIND, SAMPEX (Solar, Anomalous, and Magnetospheric Particle Explorer), and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) sensors onboard geostationary satellites, we investigate the correlation of energetic electrons in the 20-200 keV range in the solar wind and of high speed solar wind streams with relativistic electrons in the magnetosphere to determine whether energetic electrons...
متن کاملThe Role of Diffusion in the Transport of Energetic Electrons during Solar Flares
The transport of the energy contained in suprathermal electrons in solar flares plays a key role in our understanding of many aspects of flare physics, from the spatial distributions of hard X-ray emission and energy deposition in the ambient atmosphere to global energetics. Historically the transport of these particles has been largely treated through a deterministic approach, in which first-o...
متن کاملLong-term-average, solar cycle, and seasonal response of magnetospheric energetic electrons to the solar wind speed
[1] Among the interplanetary activity parameters the solar wind speed is the one best correlated with the energetic electron fluxes in the inner magnetosphere. We examine the radial and temporal characteristics of the 2–6 MeV electron response, approximating it in this paper with linear filters. The filter response is parameterized by the time delay (t), measured from the time of solar wind imp...
متن کاملUp to One-Hour Forecasting of Radiation Hazards from Solar Energetic Ion Events with Relativistic Electrons
The sudden and prompt occurrence of solar energetic particle (SEP) events poses a hazard to manned space activities and interferes with robotic space science missions. This study demonstrates the possibility of short-term forecasting of the appearance and intensity of solar ion events by means of relativistic, near light-speed electrons. A list of the most severe proton events measured by GOES-...
